Service was very good and people were super nice! They were happy to make a small adjustment to my order for dietary needs. Food was really good, I had the tofu soup and gimbap.
Fast service, delicious casual Korean food and reasonable prices! This place had been on my radar for a long time in terms of must-try food spots in San Diego and it lived up to that reputation in my opinion! I ordered the soft tofu soup with beef, some stir fried spicy squid, some beef bulgogi and jjajangmyeon rice cakes. No complaints about anything, seasoned very well and fresh & hot to boot! Ample side dishes, not too much variety but a decent amount of quantity. Will come back for sure the next time I am in the area. It's perfect for both casual lunch and dinner and I'm sure you could also take a date there if you wanted to just for some casual vibes and good Korean food! Parking is aplenty in the nearby large commercial use parking lot.
Sue's Korean Kitchen is located in a small plaza right off Mira Mesa Boulevard. It's a small storefront with no seating inside. You walk in, get what you want, and walk out. I love the home cooked style of food that Sue, the owner, makes. It tastes like it just came out of your Korean grandma's kitchen. The authenticity and the fact that it was clearly made out of love is what keeps me going back for more. I usually order the soondubu with beef. It comes with rice and a side of veggies. The soup itself is hearty and loaded with meat, with just the right amount of spice. The tofu is silky smooth. The flavor is simply delicious and much better than other Korean restaurants that I have tried. I also love getting the kimbap from here. She rolls each kimbap with care, making sure that the majority is filling, not rice. Complement that with a side of spicy fish cakes and you'll have yourself feeling full after a delicious meal. I love Sue's and I hope to continue supporting this small business. She is a wonderful, warm, and welcoming owner who makes delicious food!
Love love love this place. Their food tastes warm and comforting, like a home cooked meal at your auntie's house. We always get the bibimbap, gimbap, japchae, or bulgogi. They have lots of fresh banchan for sale as well.
This cozy, homemade-style restaurant is a local gem. While it's primarily a takeout spot, you can enjoy your meal at the outdoor seating area in front. I'm a huge fan of their #5 pan-fired squid. It's served with rice and four delicious side dishes, and it's so good that I often forget to take a photo! I'll definitely remember next time. The restaurant also offers a variety of homemade side dishes, displayed beautifully in a refrigerated case. I can't wait to try some of those in the future.
I have since returned a few more times and still recommend this spot. The beef Kimbap falls apart more easily than their regular one, maybe it was just the day? I prefer the regular Kimbap. Their tofu soup is really good and so filling! Comes with banchan and rice. Still love their potato salad. It is the type with apples in it, just a heads up in case you don't like apples :)
I work in the sorrento valley area and this is my GO TO place for healthy and quick food. (Pro tip: call ahead of time!) It's a no-frills korean place where the lobby/ordering area is probably no bigger than a cubical, but don't let that deceive you! This place used to be ran by Sue herself, where she and maybe 1-2 other people made everything from scratch, everyday (and it shows in the food!). She has since gotten more staff but the quality of food has never changed... (I've been coming here for a while now LOL) The staff themselves are really friendly and are always making sure that you are leaving satisfied. Service can't get any better! If you're in the area and are looking for a nice and healthy lunch, come here!
My wife and I stumbled upon a cozy little Korean food spot in the food court area. The place is small and caters exclusively to takeout orders. The employees were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We decided to try their japchae and bibimbap with beef. My wife raved about the japchae, and even the bibimbap I ordered was a delightful surprise. Both dishes were bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. As an added bonus, they also sell kimchi, rice cakes, and other delectable side dishes stored in their fridge. My wife couldn't resist taking some home. We're definitely planning to return, not just for the main dishes but also for those tempting side dishes. It'll become our go-to spot for the side dishes rather than those other Asian stores. Great service with delicious food!
I love supporting small mom and pop stores and this one has great food! The food is sooo good and they give you so much for the price! I got the gimbap and pork bibimbap and both were so good. When you enter, there's a fridge with a ton of side dishes ranging from $5-$10. I didn't grab any this time, but I'll definitely try some next time.
Located in the Food Court at Plaza Sorrento is a local mom and pop to-go eatery that specializes in Korean comfort food. My daughter and I were in a mood for Gimbap, so I decided to try out this place. I picked up 2 orders that each had 2 large rolls, each cut into 8 pieces. The cost was $12.99 per order, which was very reasonable. They were really fresh and tasted great! Definitely hit the spot! I will be back to try other stuff next time. The space is really small and the menu is limited. They have a refrigerator that has all kinds of Korean side dishes for sale. The 2 ladies who own and run the store were both really nice. While there were no seating available inside the small unit, there was an abundance of tables in the shared courtyard.
